Welcome to the Shasta Summit

The networking industry is evolving. Buckle up.

Welcome back to the Shasta Summit, where Wi-Fi meets water. What does that mean? We'll explain. In today's edition:

  • Wi-Fi is Like Water– It's all around us. We all need it.  Don't overthink it.
  • Old Habits Die Hard– Is it time to clean up some bad habits?

Wi-Fi is Like Water

We all need it. Let's not overcomplicate it. 💧

We don’t think about whether we need water—we just do. It’s not a luxury. It’s not an upgrade. It’s a necessity. Wi-Fi is the same. Ok, maybe it doesn’t sustain life, but it’s certainly fundamental to modern life.

Wi-Fi is woven into everything we do. But somewhere along the way, it became overcomplicated—buried under buzzwords, bloated features, and over-engineered solutions.

You Don’t Overthink Water—Why Overthink Wi-Fi?

When it comes to Wi-Fi, we can’t lose sight of the essentials:
✔ Consistent coverage – No blind spots, no weak signals.
✔ Seamless access – Devices connect instantly, every time.
✔ Cost-effective performance – The right balance of power and price.
✔ Scalability – Grows with your needs, without a full network overhaul.

Forget the Hype—Just Give People What They Need

Water is clean, accessible, and flows where it’s needed. That’s exactly how Wi-Fi should work—reliable, seamless, and designed to serve people, not networks.

Some vendors push complexity for complexity’s sake. But MSPs know that success comes from getting the essentials right—delivering Wi-Fi that just works, without the extra noise.

Old Habits Die Hard

We all have tried-and-true practices—things that feel like second nature. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it… right?

The challenge is knowing when it’s time to evolve. When it comes to Wi-Fi solutions, some long-standing habits might be due for a refresh:

  • Sticking with the Same Vendors – Strong partnerships are great, but are you still getting the best solutions from vendors you’ve relied on since 2005?
  • Same Deployment Methods – Your process works, but could automation or new tools streamline installs and reduce inefficiencies? P.S., more on this in our next newsletter...
  • Selling Boxes, Not Outcomes – Customers care less about hardware and more about performance, reliability, and business impact—are you speaking their language?

How are your habits holding up? A small tweak today could mean big wins tomorrow.
